You didn’t shake the cream carton before pouring. You should marinate smaller pieces of chicken. Cut up then marinate.

okay... WTF is that music? And, ffs, use your hands to get that marinade into the meat right and proper.

I absolutely loved how easy this was so I chose this as my first attempt at tikka masala. I tweaked the recipe a bit though. I mixed (shook them together in a small tub) the spices for the marinade first, then added them to the yoghurt and mixed that. THEN I added the chicken. I also used soy thick yoghurt as my bf has lactose intolerance and I’m allergic to all nuts and coconut, so coconut milk was not an option. I left out the chopped tomatoes as my kid hates them and I’m not keen on them either. Also didn’t put too much cayenne in as I wanted it more creamy than spicy. It turned out fantastic!!! Many thanks

No Garam Masala 😱😱 ?? The burnt cumin broke my heart 😩 never ever ever fry your herbs 🤭 and I suggest adding the garlic after the onions were halfway done because it makes the dish bitter.

Why wouldn't you mix the spices in the yogurt & then put the chicken in? Not a criticism but a question? Wouldn't you be sure that all the spices are blended into the yogurt that way?

Hi! I am very astonished that Indian recipes never use ghee anymore. Ghee is the best to cook Indian foods and it's more healthy also. It's traditional way to cook in India and it's also very tasty.

Mum ,first of all back ground music is embarassing. Marinade should mix properly before adding the chicken and chicken should be cut cubed ,coated evenly with masala, then only marinating time half an hour is enough but such a big pieces need 4 to 5 hrs.atleast .Lemon Juice, garam masala are missing in the recipe. Because of big pieces cut into cubes ,looks like Paneer in the gravy. As you said keep your hand clean always to maintain hygiene but onion was not washed after peeling.Anyway from my experiences whatever I notice is mentioned. And finally you looks gorgeous.

I have never been able to make Indian food successfully and this video helped me immensely. It's very easy to follow. What I would say though is that unless you order your Indian food HOT, I would use half of the amount of cayenne pepper suggested. It was still good but so hot it just made it hard to enjoy. I also agree that adding lemon juice to the marinade is key not to mention slicing the chicken so the marinade gets into the chicken plus added minced garlic to the marinade. For the sauce itself, my second time around I also incorporated spices she did not, some nutmeg and cardamom (with half the cayenne suggested), and this turned out really yummy.

I would use a karahi cooking bowl which gives extra room than a small cooking pan. Food looks good! Also i would cut the fresh chicken into chunks first, then marinade. In skewers inside the oven which cooks the chicken quicker. It's interesting to see different indian cooks to do Chicken Tikka very differently, plus slight different ingrediants compared to one other.

Hi there....I really appreciate the recipe. I tried this tonight and noticed that my chicken took about 30 min. to cook and even then the top of the chicken was not crisy or darkened as yours ones. Should I be using the "bake" or "broil" method? At first I tried to cook it, using the broil method and after 10 minutes, the chicken looked the same as when I first put it in. So then I thought I misunderstood the recipe and turned the dial to "bake," which I let cook for at least 20 min. So what did I do wrong?

Alex Li
Alex Li

What she said was: bake the chicken first for something like about 14-17 minutes first at 375 Degrees (I'm guessing F) and then broil it for 5-7 minutes or until you get that nice darkened colour.
