Some people are wrongly attributing his stuttering to a defect. Other saying it makes him more relatable but that's far from the truth. Stutterers are likely more intelligent than the national average by more than 10 IQ points. Memorizing a script reduces stuttering significantly, he's improvising on the spot. In other words, he's just having a dialogue with the audience.

Colonization Mars: We will need to think of starting from scratch. Everything absolutely possible in or on the craft/cargo needs to be multipurpose. Then like realestate, location, location, location. It seems possible small craters or a network of them could be taken advantage of. We could use aluminum or carbon fiber geodesic dome frames anchored to crater perimeter, then use some kind shrinkwrap or mylar covering. This sort of structure by being partially in ground, will help with the extreme temperature fluctuations, and offer the same wind resistance and deflection 360°. Then connect the craters by boring tunnles for transit and utilities. Like I said from scratch, so a plant making bricks to build structures seems like a good plan, lots of sand and rock. Ultimately we will need mining, and a foundry to smelt metals, then it will really start to happen. We will need greenhouses/vegies and ponds/aquaculture, also greenhouses for growing plants for latex rubber, we will need seals and o-rings. Silicone quartz to manufacture glass. Water from frozen poles and then solar and wind electricity. This is all easy stuff we've done before on Earth, the hard part will be to thaw out the poles and get waters moving again. Maybe it's possible to install liners in craters like a pool and use algea's to produce oxygen, fuel, and fuel.

according to nasa: Light travels at approximately 186,282 miles per second (299,792 km per second). Therefore, a light shining from the surface of Mars would take the following amount of time to reach Earth (or vice versa): Closest possible approach: 182 seconds, or 3.03 minutes Closest recorded approach: 187 seconds, or 3.11 minutes Farthest approach: 1,342 seconds, or 22.4 minutes On average: 751 seconds, or just over 12.5 minutes

Heres my question... Musk, how you gon' send 7.4 billion people to mars? How are you gonna generate all that energy to transport 7.4 billion people? How are you either going to a) craft a ship that will hold 7.4 billion people, b) craft millions of spacecrafts to transport them individually, consuming a shit load more energy. I'm down, but i'm just a little bit curious as to how you'd go about that.

Elon, I love how you have stuck to the old comic tradition of landing a rocket on it's bum. Wisely, you sorted that out first. Now things get easier because just about every scenario about the logistics of this have been dealt with in those same comics. I hope you have a comic expert scouring old comics to extract that valuable information so it can be used to help formulate your new handbook of truths about our future.

Nonsense. Uncommonly good with detail certainly but visionary? This is a design geek consumed with various imaginings, of which this at least is 100% delusion. Sending 100 people to Mars?...kids stuff...send 100 people to near certain death in a lifeless, worthless desert? Captivating? It is for him, no doubt. This is not an intellectual all-rounder, this is someone with some important deficits such as lack of common sense of reality. Terraform Mars? It is a near vacuum at surface pressure with almost no magnetic field. Of course it can’t be terraformed. Surely he must know that. So what’s his game? I wonder if he is autistic or has from some other disability? It’s a pity people hero worship this man, instead of asking a few questions, like “is this going to make things worse, or better?”

P.S. I wouldn't trust Musk in anything he does right now. He's going through a midlife crises and isn't thinking clearly.... Grimes?!.... Seriously? Musk should focus on building Rotating Space Habitats instead of wasting his money trying to colonize a dead planet. Think Elysium... Planets are not meant for mankind, we are meant to be living among the stars. Look at what we do to our own planet.. Humans don't contribute anything to Earth all we do is take take take take and destroy. You know why? BECAUSE WE DON'T BELONG HERE. Humanity will be living in Rotating Space Habitats that will number in the trillions in a few million years from now. They will fly through space and some will orbit planets outside of our solar system but humans will no longer live on primitive planets with unstable climates, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes and tsunamis etc. etc. They will live in complete comfort in these magnificent climate controlled Rotating Space Habitats.

Baring any Economic World Collapse' any ET landing' or Major War' Yellow Stone volcano' San Francisco Earthquake' climate change getting worse' Revolution in America' and a physical earth pole shift' or meteor strike' a bit late when NASA should have done it years ago. Then all systems go and hope that none of these happen including the United Nations making a grab for there new world order one world government and depopulation plan of the world then you should have no problems that would throw a spanner in your plans. So Good luck. 5 years' i would be thinking to speed things up and get more support as much as you can as I believe you will need it. My own opinion would have been a Space Station like 2001 space Odessey for paying visitors in space' then a moon base and then a space station in Mars Orbit then to the surface of Mars and base to which you could have offered the US military that would have helped pay, but hay I know your in a hurry but Mars without a backup system for rescue if need be is really putting the donkey before the cart logic because you'll only ever will get one go and any failer will end it. But these are of course my thoughts for i think the jump to mars is too soon and your leaving your self vunable to fail at any ponit.

They must first land a man on the moon. Its all talk and no action. You know why? Ever heard of the radioactive Van Allan Belt? Spaccex is just like NASA [never any straight answer], its an illuminati occult, fertility mother goddess worship setup. Its a nice story. If you want the Truth about the future, then read the KJB, God's Word. Jesus is coming back soon to wipe out non Christians, and the anti chrsit, read the book of Revelation. God will not allow us and our sinful human nature to mess up another planet. We received a jewel in the universe, a fine tuned artwork, and we and our capitalistic greed nature ruined it. The love of money is the root of all evil. Just study the Rothschild family and the reserve bank. People want an antichrist superman to look at for salvation from their problems without understanding the fundamental problem, our sin separating us from a loving, just creator. God is about to wrap up the gentile history and destroy the elements with fervent heat, there is no time left. Cant escape Gods coming Wrath by running to Mars. Hope this helped.

Ya know, I have to wonder. We already have a phenomenal over 1 trillion dollar habitat that could provide not only the environment but more importantly the room needed for supply storage and sustain healthy human psychology floating in space. It's proven reliable for months even years (20 yrs.) at a time. Has anyone ever considered engineering and re-outfitting the ISS itself providing the propulsion system to handle the far fewer acceleration stresses of moving out of low earth orbit into space than taking off from earths' surface and using it as a vehicle to reach Mars? With the exception of that and engineering attachable lander system needed when it arrives at Mars and is injected into orbit.... It could maintain a crew, carry a lander system and facilitate the journey to Mars and back home far more efficiently and safely. Perhaps even saving enough to allow for funds left over to allow for service vehicle(s) to travel along with the space station carrying further needed supplies and repair parts or even parts for Marian habitats and surface vehicles. Not to mention the fact that it's an already proven platform. It would no doubt cost far less as it already exists and proven much safer than currently speculated systems. Sometimes its just better and less costly to expand and build on existing systems. That and once it returns to earth, it could easily be placed back into low earth orbit and re-outfitted for future missions. No need to worry about aerodynamics as the platform would not encounter an atmosphere. Personally, I'd much rather submit myself to this idea over being locked into what is essentially little more than a broom closet with three other humans for over a year. I don't care how mentally stable and strong they may be, the probability for the astronauts to lapse into psychological wrecks or even kill each other before they even got to Mars is far too great a risk.

My only question to Elon musk: "If we are to get anywhere in space then we obviously cannot rely on the use of liquid or solid rocket engines, they just can't take us far enough to get anywhere. Because of this this only logical technology would be one which rides itself of the barriers of gravity. Why don't you research such technologies."

What a bucket of bs... Aside from making small GSO staellite launches a bit cheaper, the things Musk say of 'mars colonization' and 'landing everywhere in Solar system' are just PR-gimmics... In his own metaphor, Boeing does not produce and sell one type of aircraft (747 or 787) for all transportation needs... no it deversifies by market needs - 737-500 for shorter frequently flown routes, 737-900 for longer routes with same payload, 767 and 757 for bigger-loads (mostly charters and touristic destinations) etc. I think, despite he may trully believe in this muti-planet mumbo-jumbo, he already realised how much harder it is in real life than in his 'encouraging speeches' - like the dead-born useless Falcon-Heavy... there will be no mars colonization whatsoever, not even in 300 years from today...
