ABOUT JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR LIVE IN CONCERT:
From executive producers Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice, Marc Platt, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron comes NBC's next live musical spectacular, the groundbreaking rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert"! Set during the final week of Jesus' life, the story is told from the perspective of infamous betrayer Judas Iscariot. As more and more followers flock to Jesus, Judas grows concerned that Jesus is becoming arrogant and losing sight of his principles. So when Jesus attacks the money changers in a temple, Judas finally turns on his teacher, setting both on a path to tragedy. Originally conceived as a concept album that hit No. 1 on the Billboard charts, the show eventually made its way to the stage in 1971 and garnered five Tony nominations in addition to winning a Drama Desk Award for Andrew Lloyd Webber. Now this globally celebrated classic comes to NBC in 2018 for a one-of-a-kind live staging on Easter Sunday that's sure to amaze with jaw-dropping spectacle, an all-star cast of beloved recording artists and a fresh soundtrack featuring such hits as "Heaven on Their Minds," "I Don't Know How to Love Him" and "Superstar."

The singing was so on point that it hurt!!! LOVED IT! The choreography was good (although it wasn’t always precise), the dancers excellent, but I missed the “angel wing” moves like they had in the movie. I never tire of listening to this song!!!

The whole point oh this song is that judas is singing this to jesus righr before he is nailed to the cross, but in this they have already taken jesus away so the song is just added as filler because of the title. Also this is when the angels come to be with jesus as well but it was taken out of this version. If you would like a better version look up the jesus Christ superstar arena tour i believe it came out in 2014. It has Ben foster as Jesus

God tells his children not to be like the world, this show seems to be no different than a concert tour. Tight flashy clothes, women in skimpy revealing skirts, putting the name Jesus over rock music, this is no different from the worldly music industry... I'm sorry but this is not what God promotes.

Sean Akridge... indeed he is most merciful and forgiving. But when he has spoken and we continue to disregard him, the bible says the holy spirit will eventually be taken away. At that point there is no more forgiveness.

In other words - Judas was necessary and essential to carry out the plan of redemption and salvation. Yes betrayal was involved, but if as we are often told sin is defined primarily by intention, how can we condemn him so harshly? While God's perfect justice did indeed find Judas in the moment of his anguish over what he set in motion, l again hope that His perfect divine mercy touched him nonetheless, and he has found some kind of peace.

The production itself was lackluster. Still, there were a few standouts and while Brandon could have been better, he made up for it with the sheer amount of heart he put into the performance. I do hope he gets noticed for it. EDIT: On that note, there are members of the CHORUS that I hope got special mention because of just how much they poured into every scene they were in. Some of them really gave their all to make a good show and deserve to be recognized for it.

I have often wondered whether history has in fact very unfairly vilified Judas. I mean to carry out the plan if atonement and salvation he had to do what he did - he had to play his role, however misguided and unwittingly. It seems to me that his intentions were not malicious or evil, and he was actually attempting, very naively, to save, not condemn, the life of Jesus. He realized this too little, too late if course, and took his own life over the crushing and unbearable guilt and anguish it caused him. But how can we condemn him, if he had to fulfill the role that he did, and play his part in acting out a destiny ordained by God? It is my own admittedly personal hope that, somehow, just as Jesus forgave Peter for having denied him three times - and just as Jesus forgives us all, through the power if His sacrifice - that He has also forgiven poor tragic Judas, and that, somehow, Judas has found that forgiveness and made his peace with God. Some would say that in that hope it is l who am misguided. But l hope.

First of all Jesus is not no superstar. Jesus is the Son of the Living God. HE IS THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. This blasphemous display of whatever this was supposed to be is just wrong. These people better believe God is not mocked and the day of the Lord is soon approaching. God have mercy.

I agree that Brandon Victor Dixon was amazing. Incidentally, in the 2000 version, I had a hard time watching that version of "Superstar", largely because Jesus (played by Glenn Carter) was onstage and he was very bloody! At least they had John Legend taken offstage before the song began, which made it easier for me to watch.

I've gotta say Brandon is far and above the best thing in this production. He absolutely dominated the role of Judas. Hell, he's probably the only person I'd let stand next to Carl Anderson and that is a massive compliment. A shame I can't say the same about the rest of the show... John Legend just disappointed me as Jesus. His take of Gethsemane was just too weak. Alice Cooper as Herod got me excited at first but he seemed so bored in the song it just sucked the fun out. I'll give top marks to the performers for Annas, Caiaphas, and Pilate but everyone else was just kinda mediocre.
