It's good your boyfriend isn't in South Africa in the plaasmoorde. I keep trying to arrange a floating crypto nation for Boers to escape the displacement camps, also other interested whites from around the world. People don't seem to want us around looking at the hate on social media. I think we could cruse the seas , work fixing engines , computers or what ever else. Maybe eventually start fish farms. The idea occurred that that there are probably sea mounts that could be anchored to using long cables to anchor a small floating town plus a farm at least for a certain amount of time per year. Fresh fish is worth a bit of money.

Nearly every single American yacht manufacture with very few exceptions offered A-4s as their standard engine up until the early 80s. Of the 40,000 A-4s estimated to have been installed half are still running. Their low compression (6.4:1) is so easy on the cylinder liners that most all to date have been rebuilt without any over-boring. Many will still be running as centurions with their original pistons and standard sized bores. They are one of the very few marine engines which were actually designed from the ground up as marine engines and not "marinized" tractor engines. These engines are the 2nd evolution of engines which were used heavily in life boats during WW-2. Most unfortunately were and are raw water cooled. Not a bad thing on freshwater lakes. Even despite this nearly half of those used even in salt water and raw water cooled are still running having undergone no rebuild. Typical fuel usage for one running well in a 34' boat @ 5kts is on the order of .6 gallons pr hr. One of the design features which allowed them to run so long was that they utilized a geared valve drive train. Another thing is that they are 'L' head, or flat head engines whose valves run cooler and with FAR less valve guide wear than overhead valve engines. That last also is why performance is not up to modern engine standards. RATED AT 30 hp @ 3000 RPM (wikkipedia lies) a good prop will have a torque curve which meets the high end of the A'-4s bell curve around 2,400-2,500 RPM which is enough to push a 34' boat at a hull speed of 6.6-6.7kts. Most of these engines were over-propped and ran 6kts @ around 1700 RPM. This is generally evident when they are rebuilt in the two main bearings which get flattened down from the lugging, but still hold up for 45 years with good compression. Another tell tale sign of over-propping are spun wrist pin bushings, which again, the A-4 seems to blow off with little care. In fact many would not even NEED new rings but for the removal of a piston from the bore mandating it. Once a piston is removed from its bore it must be honed and new rings installed to avoid scoring of the old rings being seated into the bores with the micro wear grooves not matching up. To do one generally is to do all the cylinders. Typically the raw water cooling takes a toll on the engine's head after 45 years mandating it be replaced too during a rebuild. Unlike MOST of the diesel engines offered up as options in those years with a few exceptions, parts are still readily available for A-4s. New and improved replacement engine blocks are even now being turned out for them which use cathodic protection. A totally new block with reconditioned most everything else will set you back nearly 7,000 USD. There is in fact a rather sizable sailing population who would never be caught trading out their A-4s for diesels because of the historic parts issues with them, rebuild costs, and fuel system issues inherent with diesels in general. So while you will not get the fuel economy, you also not get a few headaches over the issues inherent in diesel engines either. Most sailors replace their diesels, those with A-4s are most likely to have them rebuilt or used as cores for another rebuilt A-4 today. The era of swapping out an A-4 for a diesel by and large is over with the costs and other headaches of today's diesels. Diesels are still king, but A-4s are love. A-4s today are less being seen as a hindrance to resale value because in general less than 30% of a diesel installation will ever be recouped at resale on average. Today A-4s are more and more being seen as iconic, and not the liability they were once branded as by sailors who appreciate a "forever" trustworthy engine.

Mike Walker He can ask her anytime for marriage. Get her a ring and hope she says yes. It's not nice to use negative speculations. When you start wishing others well then maybe your life will improve. Look at yourself, your life and stop hating on others. Work on yourself and offer others help. Without expecting anything in return. Relationships that won't work are the ones where people start keeping score. Personally I'm surprised she has come so far in such a short time. Most girls would be popping prescription drugs and blaming others. She's pulling her life together.and excepting help. Her children are doing well and she's got the 100 ton captains license. She is showing her kids that woman can set goals and finish them. And no one can do it solely alone. Plus all the filming and editing. She is quite the catch and won't be controlled any longer by a man who treats her badly. Stephen is very good for this lady and it shows. She obviously makes him happy. So lets be happy for them.
