With the amount of paste used. You perhaps didn't notice you would be trapping heat by using that much. Use less in paper thin applications. The more used actually traps heat and defeats the purpose.

Sweet!!!!! I was just sitting here, enjoying the morning rain, thinking if it would work. I'm a carpenter and a musician, but I'm also into tech (yes, I'm a great slut!). I'm thinking of building a modular "Command" desk and building the PC inside of one module. This should allow a cavernous interior with more than adequate space for hidden cables, radiators (yeah, dual GPU's, either 1080 or RX Vega 64, with a core i9 8700), fans and lighting. I'd like to line the interior with Auralex SheetBlok to keep it silent, but also the best silent fans I can afford. Threadripper would be nice but AMD doesn't seem to do Thunderbolt 3🤔🤔🤔🤔

The coil wine is probably not appearing to come from the same place because of magnetic interference with the microphone. As you moved the mic towards the MOSFETs you put the microphone cable against the coil, which could induce a signal in it. I can't think of any reason a MOSFET would whine but a coil whines because of the changing magnetic field slightly changes its physical shape. Big industrial transformers and power cables whine in the same way but at a much lower frequency.

False advertising. Most of the PC is actually made of electronics. I haz a disappoint.

Shawn Elliott
Shawn Elliott

Eh, sort of. Mostly I'm giving him crap for saying he built a PC out of rope and wood, when he actually only built the _case_ out of rope and wood. There isn't any particular reason why an all-mechanical computer _can't_ exist, we just invented electronics before we invented precision machining. It would be interesting to see someone actually build a high-speed mechanical computer, even if the technology required to make it move at a reasonable speed would be immensely expensive.

This is amazing, more like this please. You should make custom one of a kind PC's for people and record the videos for views :) Try some Darker Bavarian German Hemp, for the rope, beautiful rope. If interested check out https://www.twistedmonk.com/products/bavarian-blonde or other Hemp https://www.twistedmonk.com/collections/rope/products/natural-hemp-rope Just a suggestion, the build looks great; you can always try different rope a darker looking rope would contrast nicely with the wood. Love this project, great job! Subbed!

There is still a mistake, the two aluminium heatsinks might be mounted by rotating them 90° from their former position (air flow sideways) to allow more cooling.

You made a PC Case out of rope and wood, not a PC.... Those that say a PC NEEDS metal/electronics parts need to check what a computer actually is, as there is no reason a computer (or a personal computer) needs to compute electronically/digitally.

That graphics card mod looks fricken incredible. To be honest with you I think the wood takes away from it's industrious, hemi-like, look. If you wanted to do something a little over the top with a heat sink like the, I would suggest creating a hot-rod style tower. Something like a 70's muscle car. Could be interesting. That said, you did an excellent job!
